High Court passes positive judgement on language policy

High Court says unaided schools can now teach in English. The message is loud and clear and this indeed is a victory of the private schools that were fighting with the state of Karnataka for the last 14 years…..

In the 318 page judgment, the Hon. HC observed “…..the Govt. policy compelling children studying in other government recognized schools (private) to have their primary education only in the mother tongue or the regional language is violative of Article 19 (1) (g), 26 & 30 (1) of the Constitution.

If the parents want their children to have primary education in English, they are not committing any crime…It is not illegal nor opposed to public policy. The choice of medium of instruction is left to the parents and children….”

From now onwards, private unaided schools such as ‘Touheed’ can switch over officially to english right from class 1 to SSLC (X)…A great relief for the students as well as for the parents…
