Our school bus commuting the students as usual from Byndoor to the Touheed English Medium school, Ganguli, met with an accident at the Maravanthe beach near Trasi on the National Highway -17 at 9.00 am yesterday ( on 24th June 2008. )
The bus was plying from Byndoor to Ganguli. A lorry carrying manganese ore was speeding from behind….it overtook the school vehicle and immediately applied breaks ……At the same time a KSRTC bus was speeding from the opposite direction. Our bus driver did not have any other option but to ram the vehicle to the rear of the manganese carrier.
Due to the accident, about 20 students sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to the Chinmayi Hospital Kundapur…out of them, over ten, with minor injuries, were sent home after first aid and eight were got admitted for further investigation and treatment. The injured include the bus driver Ahmed and the conductor Shabbir with fractured legs and arms. A couple of students have their legs fractured…..with head injuries….Alhamdulillah, all of them are totally out of danger and Insha Allah, they will be back home by a week. We appeal to all of you to please pray for the speedy recovery and long life of all the victims of this accident.
